Stout’s work was included in the 2020 Contemporary figurative exhibition, Voluntarily Indirect, at the University of Tennessee at Martin. The exhibition was held at the Fine Arts Building Gallery from January 9 - February 1st, 2020. The exhibition is open to artists residing in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington, D.C. and West Virginia. The 2019 exhibition occurred May 28-July 14, 2019 and was juried by Bethany Springer
American Movie Premier Featured in Dogwood Arts
“American Movie Premier” was featured in the 2019 Dogwood Arts Regional Art Exhibition at the Emporium Art Center in Knoxville, TN. The exhibition was on view June 7-28.
Jason Stout: "Black Star Unscripted" Exhibition at REM Gallery
Black Star Unscripted, a solo exhibition by Jason Stout will open at REM Gallery in San Antonio, Texas on November 9th, 2019. The reception will be held from 6-9pm.
This exhibit, consisting of drawings and paintings, deals with notions of political strife coexisting with environmental concerns to create compositions of smaller troubled environments. There are fragmented figurative elements existing in and outside of these clouds, as well as tools, weapons, and vices. These fragments serve as visual metaphors that address specific narratives from our modern time.
Black Star - A black star is created when matter compresses at a rate significantly less than the freefall velocity of a hypothetical particle falling to the center of its star, because quantum processes create vacuum polarization, which creates a form of degeneracy pressure, preventing spacetime (and the particles held within it) from occupying the same space at the same time. The predicted interior of a black star will be composed of this strange state of spacetime, with each length in depth heading inward appearing the same as a black star of equivalent mass and radius with the overlayment stripped off. Temperatures increase with depth towards the center.

“Jason Stout grew up in Martin, Tennessee, and always knew he was talented in the arts. As a child in elementary school, his teachers would give his artwork a little bit more attention than the rest of the kids, and he soaked it up. His inspiration came from sitting at the railroad tracks in the car, watching the trains coming in from Chicago and observing the fun 80s graffiti that was displayed on the cars. Now as an associate professor of art at the University of Tennessee at Martin, Stout encourages his students to not dismiss fellow students and the community if they do not understand art. Instead, he encourages them to be a bridge and connect the community with the art.”

Stout Receives UTAA Outstanding Teacher Award
The 2019 University of Tennessee Outstanding Teacher Award is presented by the UT Alumni Association as a recognition of teaching excellence. Jason Stout was a recipient of the 2019 UTAA Outstanding Teacher Award during the 2019 UTAA Board of Governor’s Awards Dinner.
